Clinical Receptionist

Welcomes and assists patients with respect and courtesy. Functions as part of the team that schedules patients, assists with efficient patient flow in clinic, maintains patient demographic records, handles patient phone contacts, and provides clerical support to the clinical staff including providers, clinic manager, nurses and other office staff. Ensures waiting room environment is neat and welcoming. Participates in performance improvement and OPI activities. Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: - As SVH team members, we hold each other and ourselves accountable to our Standards of Excellence in everything we do. - Registers all patients using sign-in sheet, gives new patients medical forms to complete. - Verifies patient demographic, employment and insurance information. - Explains billing policies, collect co-payments, and refers patients without insurance to the Clinic Manager or staff member monitoring the Sliding Fee Scale Program. - Schedules new and return appointments; explains registration process and gives directions to new patients; may explain procedure preparation to patients. - Answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner; takes messages; directs calls to appropriate staff members. - Prepares charts for new patients and for appointments the next day. - Maintains a neat, well organized office area. Maintains the daily patient schedules. - Collects payments, writes receipts, writes payments in ledger and balances petty cash. - Takes messages accurately and ensures prompt delivery to appropriate staff member. - Assists staff in filing and pulling charts as needed. - Maintains a good working relationship with office/clinic staff members and physicians. - Maintains confidentiality of all patient issues and records. - Communicates appropriately and clearly with staff. - Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. - Provides excellent Customer Service. - Contributes to team efforts. - Willing to learn and improve. - If flexible and able to multitask. - Performs other duties as assigned.
